Les lumières encastrées se composent de deux éléments principaux, le boîtier et la finition. Le boîtier est installé dans le plafond et n’est pas visible à l’œil nu. D’autre part, les Boîtiers Rénovateurs sont utilisés lorsque vous devez l’installer dans un espace déjà existant dont l’accès est limité et que vous avez besoin d’enlever le plâtre ou la plaque de plâtre qui devront être réparés ultérieurement. C’est généralement utilisé dans les appartements ou les maisons dont vous envisagez de rénover ou de modifier le plan d’éclairage.

L’autre point à prendre en compte pour choisir le bon boîtier est de déterminer si celui-ci est certifié IC ou non. IC signifie en contact avec l’isolant (des plafonds isolés). Un boîtier certifié IC signifie que celui-ci peut entrer en contact avec l’isolant thermique du plafond. La certification Non-IC par contre signifie que le boîtier n’a pas de contact direct avec l’isolant thermique et doit être éloigné d’au moins 7,6 cm de toute isolation.

L’autre critère à déterminer est de savoir si vous voulez avoir la tension de ligne ou une basse tension. La tension de ligne fonctionne directement à partir du courant domestique normal de 120 volts. Il n’y a donc pas besoin d’avoir des variateurs ou transformateur. La tension de ligne est la plus appropriée pour les plafonds élevés où vous avez besoin d’éclairer la pièce de manière générale, mais pas spécifiquement. Une ampoule de 150W peut facilement faire l’affaire dans ce cas. La lumière encastrable à basse tension est plus efficace en termes d’économie d’énergie car il utilise un courant de 12 volts au lieu de 120 volts. Par ailleurs, vous pouvez également utiliser un variateur d’intensité pour régler l’éclairage ou la luminosité de la pièce. Un transformateur spécial permet alors de réduire le voltage.

Après le boîtier vient la finition. Celle-ci existe sous différentes formes et le choix vous revient entièrement. C’est la partie visible de la lumière encastrable et si vous avez fait le bon choix, celle-ci ajoutera de la beauté au rendu de l’installation. Les plus grandes bordures offrent un spectre de lumière plus large que celui offert par les plus petites. Le choix de la finition peut aussi se faire en fonction de la taille et du besoin de lumière dans la pièce. Il existe de nombreuses variétés de finitions comme déflecteur, réflecteur, ajustable, douche, lèche-mur ou encore décorative. Et avec les nombreux designs sous lesquels ces finitions sont disponibles, celles-ci ont le pouvoir de mettre en valeur la beauté des lieux éclairés.

Le dernier point, mais non des moindres, est l’ampoule. De préférence, l’éclairage encastré DEL sera le meilleur choix pour donner du style à votre intérieur. Et comme les lampes LED ne chauffent pas, qu’elles permettent d’économiser de l’énergie et qu’elles se déclinent en différentes couleurs, vous ne pourrez pas vous tromper dans votre choix.

Généralement, la lumière encastrable sert à augmenter la luminosité d’une pièce, mais en installer en trop grand nombre peut nuire à l’apparence de celle-ci. Alors, de combien de spots encastrables ai-je besoin ? Si la pièce est déjà bien éclairée par la lumière naturelle car elle comporte de larges fenêtres, quelques luminaires suffiront.
